Time To Get Cozy
The nights are growing longer the days are growing cooler. Autumn is here, and with it comes a natural inclination to nest into our homes for the season. It is especially nice to be able to bring more warmth and comfort to friends or family members who are receiving home health or home hospice services.
Here are some of our favorite easy ways to bring a little more coziness to the home:
Fuzzy blankets. There is no shortage of options when it comes to warm, snuggly, soft blankets available today. One of our favorite options are soft faux-fur throws or blankets, worn with the fur on the inside rather than outside. So luxurious!
Candlelight. Lighting a few candles instantly transforms the atmosphere of any room. If you have concerns about open flames in your home, they make a variety of battery-operated candles- some of which are made with real wax and subtly flicker.
Something warm to sip on. Hot apple cider, coffee, hot tea, and even hot chocolate are all great options. Enjoy the way the steam rises from your mug- just don’t burn your tongue!
A good book. When was the last time you sat down to read a good novel? Switch off the TV and allow your imagination to come out to play for a while.
Cherish some good memories. Over the years, we collect photos of cherished moments, but then we forget to look at them and remember the good times. Break out your favorite albums. Call a friend or family member and reminisce about some of your favorite pics.
Don’t forget your tootsies! Slippers are a great way to stay cozy and comfortable as you spend time at home. If slippers aren’t quite your thing, consider fleece-lined socks.
Surround yourself with family. Take some time to check in with your family members a bit more frequently this season. Call, email, text, or maybe send a card or a letter. even if you only chat for a few moments, letting that person know that you are thinking about them will bring a smile to their face- and to yours!
