Doug is new to the South Coast, having moved to Brookings with his wife Colleen in 2018. Doug is a graduate of Washington State University (1996) where he studied the economics of healthcare. In 1996 he joined Health Economics Research Inc. as a Senior Economist and participated in the development of a prospective payment system for the State of West Virginia. He would later join Practice Patterns Science as they conducted cost of treatment studies for the pharmaceutical industry, and then United Healthcare of the Midwest as they developed research based best practices for patient care. After years of teaching, Doug now serves as Executive Dean of the Curry Campus of Southwestern Oregon Community College. His support for home health and hospice services are the direct result of seeing what home care has done for his grandfather, two grandmothers and a dear friend. Doug and Colleen enjoy hiking along the beach, riding their bikes, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
